Luís Fabiano Clemente

Luís Fabiano Clemente The footballer (FW) of the Brazilian Sao Paulo / perception Pena native place.

After local club team caricature joining an organization, I go back to my own country without can be familiar though I challenge young Europe. I mass-produce goals showing a goal sense, strength of positioning in Sao Paulo FC, and it is it with a player of a symbol of Sao Paulo FC. Partner team DF always set a man and it is afraid. I acquired a personal title of king re-Berta doughless cup score in score king, 2004 of 2003, and called it and, by Copa America in 2004, contributed to championship at two top with ad re-Arno, and it was put expectation to with a striker of a representative in the next generation.

I half transfer to FC in a release state not to be able to show ability by injuries though I transfer to FC Porto (Portugal) of European CL king in those days afterwards. Quite good condition did not rise though I assumed the tenth uniform number in , but I became peak form in 07-08 seasons and recorded 24 scores of the second place league.

In addition, in January, 2007, I woke up a quarrel of a fight during Carlos and a match of Zaragoza in game with anti-real Zaragoza and received suspension disposal of league match five games.

In typical center forward, I hardly participate in defense, and there are not many momenta. Therefore I can often disappear from a match, but it is commonly said, and a play full of gut after I have a ball can take a goal away by various patterns. Sense of smell to the goal and the decision power excel in particular and do not look inferior even if they compare it with successive strikers of the Sele loss.

It goes away than a representative after FC Porto transference for a while and was already becoming a past person for Sele loss, but I reflect the favorable condition with the leaguer and there is the injury of Alfonso (Heeren foehn) and returns to a representative by Peru round on November 18, 2007 (2010 South Africa World Cup South America preliminary). I participated as the game with Uruguay of the second return round performed in Sao Paulo モルンビー・スタジアム (November 21) in the forerunner and raised two scores of the reversal after it was scored the first and I was big and contributed to victory and appealed to you for that I regained brightness in ex-Sao Paulo FC.

I achieve a hat trick by the game with friendly game / Portugal of November 20, 2008.

I raise two scores by game with Italy of the World Cup championship country by FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 and I raise a continuation goal from two points of behind by U.S.A. round of the finals and catch up with a tie score and contribute to Brazilian championship. Own 5 won Golden Shoe (a score king) and a silver ball (MVP second) at a score, too.

28/06/2009 at 03:20Soccerkid77 (Egypt)
I want Spain to win Third. I want Brazil in First. I want USA already out. South Africa GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!!
27/06/2009 at 16:11pizzaevino (Canada)
I love the way S.Africa plays, but being from europe I support Spain..
27/06/2009 at 14:45BiChO-BRA (Brazil)
What happened? Brazil becomes a weak team against africans. heheh I can remember the nigerians and others that give us a big trouble! Congratulations South Africa! I'm hopping you beat Spain!
27/06/2009 at 14:08zecasadeck (Brazil)
All of you are missing the point here: every team that plays against Brasil seems to be playing the World Cup finals. They always give their best to try and beat Brasil. That's what Bafana did. They played a lot, but free kicks are still part of the game.
27/06/2009 at 12:11BlackPride (South Africa)
@Harrysamba i dont no whch game u wer watch'n but the one i was watching was way different from yours that i know for sure.Cause i saw brazil failing to break the middle and defence of Bafana Bafana, and thats because we play they same ball as the brazillians,we hold on to the ball,we have skill.Unlike England we dont pass the ball in spaces hoping someone gets to the end of it.We closed brazil down quickly thats why players like Melo and Santos were getting frastrated.
27/06/2009 at 08:00WaterFall01 (USA)
i don't know if brazil went "easy" on SA or not. but they didn't give it there ALL. SA played a rock solid game.
27/06/2009 at 06:22adr7090 (USA)
Regarding the comment made by RONHADOU (USA): Brazil should keep Dunga...it's funny some people refer him as a coward. He was a defensive midfielder and knew where brazil's weakensses and vulnerabilities at the defence. So he is trying so hard to keep the defence so strong like the Italians-you can see how less goals they have conceded for Brazil's WC qualifiers. At the same time they haven't sacrificed their attack. Still they have the world class and lightning fast in the suprise attack as well sa in the counter attack. I think most of the people who make comments haven't even played soccer in a league or so, so they have no idea how tough a game could be if a team trying to defend for all the 90 minutes like the USA as well as SA-did we see any goals by any of them against Brazil? none. So I guess iut would be worth to eveluate your knowledge as a soccer fan than criticising national coaches.
27/06/2009 at 04:37Brasiliero (Canada)
Talking about LUCK. USA was lucky to finish 2nd in group B and USA got to thank Brasil to have finish 2nd. with a record 1-2-0 Everyone was saying that Spain would/will win the 2010 World Cup but now that we'll seen that the USA beat Spain, who will win it? Brasil is the best team so far.
27/06/2009 at 03:34Lelei481 (Brazil)
Man That was a good Match but next its Brasil vs USA.
27/06/2009 at 03:22manu_rocks95 (USA)
I think south africa played better and deserved to win, but daniel alves had a beautiful shot. The usa will have a tough time against brazil.
27/06/2009 at 02:21julioforever (Republic of Ireland)
brazil will beat usa now easily :D
27/06/2009 at 00:57futballmasta (USA)
Im proud of South Africa they played with passion, they played for the love of the game and out played Brazil. If they could of finished one of there chances the game would of went to them. It took a "perfect" set piece, a shot that bent around the keeper with alot of pace. I was impressed all tournament long with brazils set pieces and corners but they showed very little in run of play. Not the Brazil that Im used to but googd enough to get them to the final. I know the 3rd place and finals are going to be good games and I hope the best for SA and the US of A
27/06/2009 at 00:05larryboy (USA)
South Africa really palyed a very tactical game. They were just unlucky to have conceded a goal through that late freekick. The performance of both Egypt and South africa have shown that African soccer is improving very fast. We still have power houses like Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Ivory Coast. Tunisia can also be relevant when they put their act together. SA 2010 here we come. Long Live African soccer.
26/06/2009 at 23:52Blazers (USA)
What a great game. Both teams showed great tactics. At the end it was nice that mighty Brazil won, but also that South Africa as the host team played so well and lost by one goal. They have a great coach. Go Joel Santana!!!!!
26/06/2009 at 23:47nanyukiborn (Sweden)
brazil played against south africa as if they were in a trance and luckily for dunga daniel alves saved the day for them and i don't think they can afford to play that badly against the americans for those boys can smell victory already so kaka & co.pull yourselves together, you have a tough match coming.
26/06/2009 at 23:25Rafael2014BR (Brazil)
Go Brazil! ALL I believe you! Ohhh! Brazil 3 x 0 USA→ Again!
26/06/2009 at 23:20Nakpoko (Canada)
South Africa was a better team last night and they played very well. There are going to be a lots of surprising next year at the World Cup. None of the big teams is winning the cup this time. Even small team can be unpreditable. Everyone should remember how Ghana defeated the big Czech in the last world cup. USA is going to prove stumborn for Brazil to defeat. Watch out but it's going to be very interesting game. USA 1 Brazil O
26/06/2009 at 23:09MrShmoo (Canada)
Ronhadu...I could agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that for some time everybody thinks that they can play like Brazil can...creative and beautiful..it took Parreira in '92 to realize that since other teams can better their skills, Brazil need to focus on defense...and that's why Brazil is still better than other teams, it can switch from attacking to defence...Plus Brazil have won 2 WC that way
26/06/2009 at 22:49FootGeniy (Russia)
Go Brazil!!!
26/06/2009 at 22:45brazuca52 (USA)
USArise. You said: We hit the post twice in the last game against Brazil... My advise: Next time try not to hit the post and the result might be different :)
26/06/2009 at 22:43FootGeniy (Russia)
what a pity that people dont want to understand soccer. It seems to me that many expect Brazil to entertain without grasping that Dunga is interested, correctly so, in results. according to me the current Brazil team is one of the greatest; superb on the counter attacks, defensive and able to play a normal game. Not to mention their tenaciy! that means they are ready to meet and defeat any team!!!
26/06/2009 at 22:38brazuca52 (USA)
Buckalicious (USA)... Brazil is not GODLY, they are just great! If we didn't have any past world cups and confederation cups and many other titles, I guess we would be saying the same thing you are saying (that you don't care about past accomplishments) STOP THE SHANANIGANS ALREADY! We are not infuriated to see the US do well in soccer, I like the US team and I wish them well. I live in the US and my son plays his soccer here, what I don't like are fans lake you who win one game and think they are the worls champs. Win something significant first and then we'll talk.
26/06/2009 at 22:27JorgeSPFC (USA)
Ronhadou, I would have to disagree with you about Kaka. I think he is one of the most gifted and technical midfielders in the game right now. Although, I do agree with you about Robinho. He seems to struggle and disappear against bigger and more physical defenders. Also, I think saying that this is a badly assembled Selecao is unfair. It's true they don't have the big names like the Three R's (Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Rivaldo) but remember what happened in 2006, they came home empty despite all that talent. Dunga's approach, though boring to most Brazilians, will be essential to Brazil's success next year. I believe that Brazil has the most potent offense year in and year out, but their weakness has always been defense. Remember, the last two times Brazil hoisted the World Cup, they had great defense. Brazil won the World Cup during the "Dunga era" in '94 and Scolari won in '02 by concentrating on defense over talent (snubbing Romario, despite many pleas for his addition to the national team).
26/06/2009 at 22:20brazuca52 (USA)
Lots of interisting comments here, however, this is for LOROUSA (USA)... Thank you for not being a fan of Brazil, we have plenty of fans from arond the world, we don't need you. I'm not sure if you a US fan or Spain fan, but it doesn't matter. Here is the difference, Brazil played a bad game and still found a way to win, the US played a great game... Brazil can play better than they did the last game, the US played as good as they can and probably won't play any better. Anyway, I'll compare Brazilian titles with you any day against whoever you root for and I know I'll always win. Win something first before you talk smack.
26/06/2009 at 21:49camisa12 (USA)
Dunga brought something that was long lacking to the Selecao: a tactical proposition. He was almost finished with the failure during the Olympic games in Beijing. The turning point might have been be the friendly with Italy, in February. The team still has bits and pieces to improve - the middle sees new alternatives in Felipe Melo and Ramires, now we see Daniel Alves and Andre Santos on the sides as more than just alternatives. The group is motivated and winning. Are they favorites? Without a doubt. Are they going to get the Cup? Maybe they will, maybe they won't. The most important point is that like it or not, Dunga's work is finally bearing fruits, with undeniable positive results.
26/06/2009 at 21:20USArise (USA)
With all due respect to south africa, the springboks were trying to play a fast game with brasil without trying to out strategize or outsmart them. had they done that, they would have won. If brazil is truly still the best in the world, they will beat US convincingly, but unlike spain and egypt, don't have excuses later should u lose.
26/06/2009 at 21:15USArise (USA)
Bluecorsair, its no secret that south american teams flop. US with basketball/football background, australia with the wallabies and NZ all blacks prefer toughness, however brazil does it least in south america. i like out chances if its 11 on 11 for 90 minutes. remember, in 1994 when US first really know of soccer, these current players were holding milk bottles. this is the first breed of pure american soccer players. more to come.
26/06/2009 at 21:09USArise (USA)
fcarzezki, wow friend, you are confused about which side you're rooting for. your comments are the same prior to the egypt and spain game. please, don't root for the US, stay on the brazilian side because u wouldn't know a thing about american pride and determination and american soccer history. Harry samba, that is the laugh of the day to suggest that brazil went easy on south africa.
26/06/2009 at 20:59BrazUSA (USA)
Many commentators here are jumping to conclusions. Brazil won its last 6 games against some very though teams including Uruguay, Paraguay and Italy. The team is doing well considering the sequence of competitions after a tiring European season for many players (I will add Spain and Italy also). For the USA, thanks to a large score against the Italians; Brazil helped the USA to advance in addition to the fact that the Americans did a good game against Egypt. Spain was unrecognizable. The USA did not qualify for the final in really glorious manner but thanks to the cup’s rules, the narrow passage that allowed the team to beat the extraordinary odds. And the soccer gods smiled upon the USA team. The game against the SA was though because Brazil played against a very motivated team which was playing home with its fan, has an excellent coach, who knows Brazil well, has good players, etc. A tie would be expected in a normal time but Brazil had a talented kicker that scored during regular time. Do I think that the Americans can beat Brazil in a final game? Yes, of course, in football anything can happen. If the Brazilians enter the game less motivated or enthusiastic than the Americans the odds will be that the USA will defeat the Brazilians. But also remember, the Brazilians have one less day than the Americans to rest and that affects also the physical performance. The Brazilians will have to get really motivated to overcome possible physical fatigue. It will be a great game, by any standards.
26/06/2009 at 19:54youessay (USA)
LOL! Everyone on here is soooo certain that Brazil will win on Sunday....Jeez, didn't anyone learn a lesson from the Canadians and the Spaniards guarantying a Spain victory...? This really is amazing...i've never seen this many fortune tellers in one place before...Anyhow, hope all nations who ARENT in the final, enjoy watching the U.S. play on Sunday...
26/06/2009 at 19:53janbouli (Netherlands)
The worst thing about all this is that now I have to be for Brasil to win, but that will leave all Brasilians thinking they are the only football nation in the world, on the other hand theres the USA , if they win, we'll have the same arrogance that they have in all fields of life , so I'll stick with Brasil at least they don't think they are the only country in the world, just at football.
26/06/2009 at 18:56pizzaevino (Canada)
Italy and Canada support Brazil, GO BRAZIL GO !!
26/06/2009 at 18:49Notnarg (USA)
The South Africans did much better than I expected (good job to them). It all came down to that great strike by Danny Alves at games end. USA vs. BRAZIL in the Confederations Cup final!!!!!!!!!!!
26/06/2009 at 17:48Thwanets (South Africa)
Good luck to Brazil & USA but SA showed brilliant game yesterday they have improved big time and I think Brazil took SA as underdog but we showed them what we are capable of.
26/06/2009 at 16:25mkejnewman (USA)
Excellent shot by Alves. United states has their work cut out for them in the final.
26/06/2009 at 16:10maomoa (USA)
Excellent game by bafana. They showed a lot of heart and had no fear of the Brazilian counter-attack. I was suprised by how much they controlled the pace of the game.
26/06/2009 at 15:20HarrySamba (England)
lacerf & Ronhadou...stop worrying..because nobody knows which Brazil will turn up to the next WC...but these players (although room for improvement)have the ability to win the World Cup. I think Baptista should be excluded from the Brasil squad and replaced with someone better.
26/06/2009 at 15:17HarrySamba (England)
Respect to the host nation SA, but SA has to come to terms with reality and stop pretending. I'm sorry but SA are poor infront of goal, only way SA could have won was with luck.
26/06/2009 at 14:22lacerf (USA)
RONHADOU (USA): you are the only other brazilian here who make sense. I have the same concerns as you and I got a response as if I were a US fan talking trash about Brazil. I am not. I disagree with your comparison to the 1978 team. But anyway, Dunga and his cowardly tactics will might be enough to bring Brazil the Confederations Cup but he might need A LOT of luck to win the World Cup next year. Joel Santana showed us that he is a much better coach with the way he he set up the South African team.
26/06/2009 at 14:10'fess' (Ukraine)
Good shot that was. Good luck both USA and Brazil in the final!
26/06/2009 at 14:10FCASTRO80 (Brazil)
Brazil is the only country that has conditions to make up 3 or 4 completely different teams capable of reaching a WC final. Sunday will be easy against USA.
26/06/2009 at 13:42Rafael2014BR (Brazil)
I do not speak much English but I will try: Go Brazil! A whole country rooting for you! The best team in the world! And on Sunday BRA 3 X 0 USA ...
26/06/2009 at 13:23HarrySamba (England)
Brazil went easy on SA, the score line could have been alot worse.
26/06/2009 at 13:22godawc (South Africa)
Oh yeah, how can I forget; there was a group of guys from Kenya wearing Kenyan colours supporting South Africa last night; I am proud of you guys.
26/06/2009 at 13:20godawc (South Africa)
Alves is my favourite football player the world over & ironically he sank my heart last night by beating us. I just knew that the free kick would definitely be a goal. Nonetheless, I am very, very proud of Bafana Bafana's last night performance and I pray that we approach all our games the same way from now onwards. For the final I go for Brazil.
26/06/2009 at 13:18HarrySamba (England)
It wasn't a tight game, Brazil scored at the right moment when it mattered and i'm happy for Dani Alves scoring from a free-kick!! Finally!!!
26/06/2009 at 12:37RedDevilFan1 (USA)
when i saw how close they were to goal i said to myself here comes the goal everone has been looking for and Brazil got it
26/06/2009 at 12:29bongsbonjo (South Africa)
HOLLANDI; why did u think Bafana could loose with suvh a margin, 5-0 or 6-0. i guess they proved their worth to u and some of the world's critics. We are proud of such a decent performance last night. Good things are hopefully coming our way come World Cup.
26/06/2009 at 12:24Kazol_ku (Bangladesh)
Brazil won & it makes me always happy but in the last match they'd play better. It was not their best playing. They have the ability to show better one.
26/06/2009 at 11:49zafootball (South Africa)
What a great game. End to end stuff and if not for a good save from Cesar and the post SA might just have pulled off a great win, but chances dont matter, only goals and what a goal. Also bringing on 3 subs in the last couple of minutes showed a little bit of panic in my mind. Bafana have given me hope that next year we can do ourselves proud at the WC and not roll over. Viva Bafana Bafana.
26/06/2009 at 11:45JohnScouse (England)
Wow, what happened with Brasil last night?!?!?! Ok, we won, we scored a great goal but we were poor! They looked tired, not bothered. Dunga should have made substitutes long before Alves with Baptista, Pato etc. But hey- we won!! Vai Brasil! Party in Liverpool on Sunday!!!
26/06/2009 at 11:37phumuzo (South Africa)
In "i always hear boo...when Booth...holds the ball" Cinakota exudes the usaul ignorance, just as some spanish media misreported how we (RSA fans) attack one of our own in a racist way. Truth is Mathew Booth is our hero, his posters hangs in the walls of every South African household. We do not "Booo" him as you and some in spain suggests, we simply scream his name: "Booooth"
26/06/2009 at 11:34morgajnr (South Africa)
I give the boys (Bafana-Bafana)credits for making S.A proud up until 88th-minutes. To speak the truth, Brazilians just Forget, your not gonna beat USA. i like USA defence, they dont give up. Lastly for those who are a bit confused, the guys at the stadiums are not saying "Boooo!!!" to booth they are saying "Booooooth"!!! and thats the way to motivate him.
26/06/2009 at 11:25mayweather (South Africa)
@Whitenoise posted 25/06/09 (22:11) What a choice of a name, NOISE. Dont you feel left out, of many people that have remarked here, you the one who was not watching the game or you were tipsy from that weed you have been smoking. SA played their hearst out and what is heartening is that no one gave us any chance agaist the luminaries of world football, the likes of Kaka, Robinho, Louis, i mean you name them. We played a team that has gotten no less than three goals in all matches prior to our but still we managed to make them huff and puff all the way to the 87th minute, by a subsitute and from a dead ball situation. Come on man, you can do better than this, give credit where its due. Especially if you take into consideration where we come from, we are slowly but surely improving. I cannot wait for 2010 people, I hope we will be ready. We played well on the day, one thing i hope we will do in future especially the WC. I am filled with pride eventhough we lost.
26/06/2009 at 11:12bongsbonjo (South Africa)
Cinakota: How many times must Booth explain to you that it is not booing what you hear, it is a cheering "Boooooooth". The Fans love him in that case. he is great afterall.
26/06/2009 at 10:50Kappa09 (USA)
I like some of the recent comments made about the US fans, you guys pointed it out perfectly. The US fans are just being arrogant and are living a dream that their team is ready to compete with the power houses. US fans seem to think they are #1 and experts in soccer just because they beat Spain and are in the finals, its quite funny actually but reality will sink soon. USA fans and others who are hating on Brazil need to learn to respect the greatest soccer nation in history. There are more Brazil fans in the world then any other nation and that is because they have conquered the hearts of many. Sure, Brazil played an ugly match against South Africa and sure the USA beat Spain who is currently considered #1, but that does not give you the right to talk smack about Brazil. I will wait to hear what you guys have to say when Brazil leaves the US in the dust on Sunday.
26/06/2009 at 10:40sbo2010 (South Africa)
i'M VERY PROUD OF BAFANA THEY CONTAINED BRAZIL AND ALMOST BEAT THEM, COME 2010 YA GONNA B STUNNED!!
26/06/2009 at 10:09ThatoT (South Africa)
Congratulations to the Brazilians for their hard-fought victory... I'm proud of Bafana Bafana for their outstanding performance against a great team like Brazil. My boys proved critics wrong as some predicted a 5-0 lose to Brazil.
26/06/2009 at 10:08Tanamly (Egypt)
having watched the game... Brazil won, but i cant say by a landslide and that in itself is an acheivement.. Bafana really put a wining performance and if it wasnt for Julio Cesar they would have scored on more than one occasion.. i say they came away with what they need.. they matched multi million dollar players and made them defend more than they attacked.. Lastly the foul that produced the goal really is a foul.. deserved goal therefore..
26/06/2009 at 09:59ThatoT (South Africa)
@cinakota, hehehe, well, at first u'd think the fans are booing Matthew Booth but they really just saying 'Booooooth'... It was the same with few more players years ago, Mark Fish, the fans used to affectionately call him 'Fiiiiiiiish' and Shoes Moshoeu was 'Shoooooooes'...
26/06/2009 at 09:54Sthabiso-RSA (South Africa)
@cinakota(USA) they crowd doesn't boo Matthew Booth, they go 'BOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH' which is our way of cheering a fantastic player.
26/06/2009 at 09:05sanababes (South Africa)
@CINAKOTA....how many times should we say this? we are not booing him,we are calling out his name, want me to spell it for you? with pleasure...BOOOOOOOOOTTTTHHHHHHH.
26/06/2009 at 08:54zaeemdasoo (South Africa)
My word...I dont believe wat im reading. Its time to give credit wer it is due.I was at the stadium and brazil wer not playing bad.South Africa really played well and did not allow Brazil to play. They have a solid team that is rebuilding. They only missing Benni Mcarthy as a finisher. The skill of Pienaar and Tshabalala is amazing.Brazil wer lucky.Having said that,i think they will crush USA
26/06/2009 at 08:3822792RS (England)
The final could be a tough game for both sides
26/06/2009 at 08:32colinTolland (Australia)
congratulations brazil. in australia we love ur skills as a team and good team work. hopefully we have another oppurtunity to play you guys again in 2010 and vs the best team in the world like 2006. we will not win but its good to play against the best
26/06/2009 at 08:28Kilemos (South Africa)
Cinakota (USA): We are not saying Boo, but rather we are calling out his name BOOTH. Dah!.What the hell do you take us for?
26/06/2009 at 08:19Southafric10 (South Africa)
Oh, Bafana-bafana did me proud against Brazil.I mean,we were on our way to the penalty kicks and then the free-kick happened.I am still proud of the boys, very proud.
26/06/2009 at 08:03Africanboy7 (South Africa)
Santana was planing for penalties, it seems he trusts our keeper more than our strikers. I hope european teams don’t snatch Khune (our keeper) and put him on the bench and waste his talent
26/06/2009 at 07:25Lillyanna (USA)
So, Brazil just got by. What is the big deal? All teams are vulnerable no matter how great they are. At least they won. Come down to earth Americans! Even if Brazil looses on sunday, we still have a great team like Italy, Spain, Germany and Argentina. Did I mention USA?
26/06/2009 at 07:24RONHADOU (USA)
Okay!...Brazil won and I am glad they did. having said all that, I must say that as a Brazilian football fan,I am very wooried for this team in the next WC.This is the worst selecao that Brazil has assembled since 1978. Dunga should be fired, period. He is ruining the Brazilian football as we know it.He is trying to integrate eurpean soccer to the to the Brazilian style and it is not working and never will. We need creativity in midfield and a forward that can brake down defenses and improvise. Kaka and Robino can't do neither. My advice to the Brazilians is to fire Dunga and bring back coach Alberto Pereira.
26/06/2009 at 07:21koketsom (South Africa)
I really don't know what people are talking about, a south africa VS Brazil match is always close, brazil has never beatin south africa by more than 1 goal. I personally think that south africans are some of the best ball players in the world, they just lack the finishing touch. I mean pienaar, tshabalala and modise are just as good as kaka and robinho if not better. I salute you bafana, you put out a grat warning sign for for next year.
26/06/2009 at 07:19neveron0787 (USA)
Well done Brazil, good game South Africa! Can't wait to play ya'll again Brazil, looking forward to a competitive game!
26/06/2009 at 07:08Shukry (Sri Lanka)
I simply want Brazil to win this and defy the statistics to prove that the confederations cup holders can also win the world cup.
26/06/2009 at 07:04adr7090 (USA)
I totally agree with booguman, in fact no other teams have studied how to beat Brazil excpet for France. They have done it really well from thier set pieces and slowly tightening their defence as the game progress. Remember they play 4, 5 and a lone striker. But just because USA won against Spain, you cannot say USA are superior than Spain. USAarise talks a typical MLS manner. Currently Brazil is the strongest team on the planet. No matter how they play they win, that's the end result. It's nice to see USA coming back though, but it will take far more than that to even draw with Brazil. The way SA played agains Brazil was good to contain them but they never seemed to be potent in their attack. The same thing is with the USA they will flood its penalty area with 7-8 men so no one can go there. This is not real soccer, just a check out line at the Walmart.
26/06/2009 at 06:23fkarczeski (USA)
USArise, wow it is okay rooting for a team but at least think about what you are saying... "Brazil's weakness is in goal"?? Julio Cesar is one of the best keepers in the world right now! true, you did hit the cross bar twice on the first game, but that was after Brazil stopped running! every body could see that Brazil slowed down after the red card because there was no reason for them to keep pushing since they had the game already won. and you can stop Maicon, it won't matter... we have a left side too you know, a left side that has Andre Santos, Kaka and Robinho... shoot I want you guys to stop Maicon so we utilize more the left side, because those players can kill any team in the world! good luck in the final, you are going to need it if you want the slight possibility of winning!
26/06/2009 at 06:08SEkhON (Australia)
Now its all American Continents final..North America (USA) vs South America (BRAZIL).This would be a very tough match for Brazil.USA has nothing to loose & BRAZIL has an opportunity to add another glory to their soccer history.BRAZIL starts as favourites on papers but practically which team will take care of 90 minutes will be Champion & one step more closer to next year's World Cup.Let see wat happens...!!!
26/06/2009 at 05:56darkthirty (Canada)
I've really enjoyed this Confederations Cup, as a World Cup (and Gold Cup) precursor. The semis were really well-played and a lot of fun. I have to say, Alves free kick was really lovely. I hope the USA has another great game in them - good luck on Sunday, neighbours to the south.
26/06/2009 at 05:55Kappa09 (USA)
You really have no idea what you are talking about USArise. When has Brazil ever flopped and begged for red cards? USA is just prone to doing stupid things that get them red cards. Brazil's weakness is not Julio Cesar, he is considered by many the best keeper in the world and for your information Tafarel was never a great keeper, he was just good at defending penalty kicks.
26/06/2009 at 05:44BrasilBoy92 (USA)
Haha!!!!! 3-0 to the US you are funny USArise! We hit the post twice... lol you still lost very badly to brazil and you will again on sunday!
26/06/2009 at 05:37MarkusMerk (Mexico)
Win Brasil!!! Don't let me down like Spain did.
26/06/2009 at 05:36juli4783 (USA)
Brazil Will win, I think that U.S.A Is good but Brazil is Brazil playing bad or good if they want to win they win just like that.Even if usa beat's spain??? I mean Brazil is brazil(5time champions of the world) Home of the best player's of all time(PELE-ZICO-RONALDINHO-ROBERTO CARLOS-RONALDO-ROMARIO-DUNGA-CAFU... and I can continue) We got KAKA and he will make 1 or 2 goals againts U.S.A plus 1 or 2 beanch players Ull c USArise.
26/06/2009 at 05:32benetin (China PR)
How ugly was Brazil playing today... We want at least Ronaldinho, who is not as good as before, but still better than any player in this Brazil team.
26/06/2009 at 05:28pizzaevino (Canada)
USArise, you are wrong, USA 10 BRAZIL 0..hahahah...dont forget to put ketchup on top of every brazilian goal..lol
26/06/2009 at 05:27brasil6 (Brazil)
Brasil only had a bad game thats it. its like the first game with egypt they won a tight game then the next one came back and played great. The only real problem i saw was the fact the Dunga took forever to sub out the players
26/06/2009 at 05:20jalex083 (USA)
Brazil will win. Hands down!
26/06/2009 at 05:09Bankhead (Canada)
Brazil
26/06/2009 at 05:07LOROUSA (USA)
If I were a Brazil fan (which I'm not and will never be) I wouldn't be very happy about Brazil's performance against SA. Bafana Bafana matched Brazil stride for stride. Brazil did not dominate this game at all and SA had more heart and the better chances. Spain in defeat played better than Brazil in victory. Spain dominated the USA and two bad defensive mistakes combined with fantastic USA defense cost them the match. Brazil was not better than a SA, team that was easily beaten by Spain last week. Once again only a set piece saved them. Brazil may very well win the title here but, playing like that, they will not win any fans.
26/06/2009 at 05:00BlueCorsair (Australia)
USARise, no need to be arrogant towards Brazil - yes they had to work hard against South Africa and their defense has been fragile in some matches - but with the way they play and their quality it's a bit too much to say they would need US red cards etc. in order to win. I don't have any issue with their and Dunga strategy - being smart has nothing to do with cowardliness, all the teams are tactical these days, also, most of time they do play very attractively (I admit I haven't seen any of their WCQ matches). Having said that, US has done great job and can put good performance in the final, anything can happen. As to Jjunior2014 - better to wait with your non-respectful stickers until the final end whistle.
26/06/2009 at 04:59Gus_Bagno (Brazil)
USARrise is nuts! Our weakness is in goal? Julio Cesar might be better than tafarel...hahaha you dont know what you are talking. Julio Cesar is the best goalkeeper nowadays. You're saying it because you havent watched Brasil's matches in WC Qualifiers. Dont talk what you dont know.
26/06/2009 at 04:58GRIFFINDINHO (Australia)
UsArise your ignorant you say america is gonna win 3-0 cmon don't get hype up cause america beat spain 2-0 after all its only the confederations cup
26/06/2009 at 04:46vagner1980 (USA)
The final is USA vs Brazil. Both teams are great. The final could not be better. The best will win. Good luck guys!!!!
26/06/2009 at 04:43Azzurri4life (Italy)
Nice free kick today, to put Brazil in the final, but watch out Brazil. Team USA can pull some upsets.
26/06/2009 at 04:42tinorules (USA)
triocolor.rio, you make so much sense! Brasil of course has the distinct advantage in the Final, but I think the USA has a different air of confidence and belief then from over a week ago! At this point there are no more such things as pre-determined or easy wins. I hope my USA wins, but if Brasil outperform us and win or grind out a result I'll give them the credit they deserve. By the way, great job today Bafana Bafana! You played like the Lions of Africa you are and did your supporters proud. Viva SudAfrica!!
26/06/2009 at 04:29pizzaevino (Canada)
OUR COMPLETE SUPPORT TO BRAZIL !!!! ADIANTE E BOA SORTE !!
26/06/2009 at 04:24nmsain39 (USA)
Heloooooooo-Iker, can you hear me now? Are you still the favorites? Why did'nt you keep your appointment with Julio Cesar? the samba boy expected your company. it's very disappointing that you don't keep your appointment. when you know you can not keep an appointment, don't make any promise to your fans.
26/06/2009 at 04:19didigo (Canada)
you americans are too funny, you make it past the group stages thanks to Brazil, then happened to luckily beat a tired Spain and now you think that you are champions, i wouldn't be like you guys in a fantasy world but more like realistic, USA will play their hearts out but the Kings of futebol Brasil will be back to back champions of the confederations cup 2009.
26/06/2009 at 04:18EdsonColle (USA)
Great game, SA played the game of their lives, they gave everything they had...It is alway tuff to bet the host country. Brazil could not create much cause the Bafana-Bafana were every where in the field, Brazilians could not driblle or pass a perfect ball... The goal had to come from a Corner kick or a free kick. And that is when tallent and skills makes the difference. BRASIL in another final despite the criticism of some and for the delight of most. USA is in the same level but not as tuff as SA, I predict another 3x0 on Sunday.
26/06/2009 at 04:00hamada_elmas (Egypt)
dont think that usa is easy game 4 u .they know how 2 manage the game well.
26/06/2009 at 03:47cinakota (USA)
We can see "say no to racism" in every stadium in SAF. But i always hear "boo..." when Booth, South African player holds the ball.
26/06/2009 at 03:34Buckalicious (USA)
You guys make it sounds like Brazil is GODLY! But clearly after your performance today you guys are NOT THE GREATEST THING KNOWN TO MANKIND. I dnt care about your past world cups, on confed cups...we're talking about the present. Which what happened this tournament...U.S. upsets the #1 team in the world, then you infidels say that Spain was either washed up, overrated, or not a good team in general. STOP THE SHANANIGANS ALREADY! Bottom line, you guys are infuriated to see the U.S. do well in Soccer...because if, and when we get categorized as one the the elite teams in the world...you guys will go absolutely incensed. LOL
26/06/2009 at 03:34BSVE1211 (Ecuador)
When Daniel Alves came into the game I knew he was going to make a difference with another one of his amazing goals. Brazil will be the champions of the confederations cup!!!
26/06/2009 at 03:11Qhodier (Indonesia)
not bad for brazil, play in worst field... congrats for afrika can make brazil fighting till end...
26/06/2009 at 03:05fkarczeski (USA)
@Buckalicious - it is because of comments like yours and people that think like you that the rest of the world has a problem with U.S. Americans! you are cocky and arrogant without any rights to be!! "defeat is imminent"?? don't make me laugh! sure it CAN happen, even Brazil's players admitted that it could happen, but to say that the U.S. has so much offensive power to beat the so vulnerable Brazil is a joke! sure US showed they can beat anyone by beating Spain, but don't forget that the Spaniards had 29 shots on goal against less than 10 for the americans, where was all your offensive power then? the truth is US played extremely good defense and were able to hold spain's defense from scoring and that's how they ended up winning the game (on two defensive mistakes, I might add). Question is, how lucky do you think you are on defense to also keep Brazil from scoring? the team that has scored the most this whole competition? because even though Spain scored 5 on New Zealand they weren't the team with the best offense! so good luck to you, because you'll need it on Sunday to have a chance against the always favorite Brazil!
26/06/2009 at 02:59uBlast (Brazil)
Can´t understand some american comments here. First everybody saying USA would ashame them by performing a suddently poor performance before went back on first flight home. After a huge brazilian help for USA qualifying (Italy game), and after USA win against favorite Spain, USA is now a dream team? Plus, at first moment, all USA fans were hidden, now all summon for the rise of a "new soccer powerhouse"? Easy...Easy... PS: for those saying brazil is lucky, defense is not good or whatever, my advice: The only thing that matters in a tournament is the result. Playing beauty or ugly soccer, does not matter. Win the game matters. For playing soccer using tricks and other "beauty" skills, brazil usually prefer friendly matches. When a trophy is on dispute, we play ugly if necessary, goals and points are the main objective.
26/06/2009 at 02:31suazo_2010 (USA)
made me laugh lluvBrasil :)
26/06/2009 at 02:31USArise (USA)
hey Lisa, i thought u said spain was gonna win easy against US and then Egypt was gonna win easy against US. you are 0-2. BTW australia never could win easy when it was in oceania, and reality will set in for the socceroos in the next world cup.
26/06/2009 at 02:29roc1276 (USA)
I've been reading all of these comments from american fans talking trash about Brazil's lack of play and flare. US wins two game and now they're experts ?? Once again, Brazil just showed the world that they don't really have to be at their best to win games, they can beat any team because when they lack, flare, speed, control or lack of pace, they have whats called individual talent and skills and that my friends the US team knows nothing about...So before you americans keep talking all that trash, you have to earn the right to do so, and last time I checked you had never won anything, unlike the Brazilians whom hold almost every world in soccer. Again I SAID ALMOST not all.
26/06/2009 at 02:23USArise (USA)
We hit the post twice in the last game against brazil after we were down to 10 men, we won't do that again. we will attack brazil often. the only way brazil will win is if they start flopping and beg for red cards on US players.
26/06/2009 at 02:20USArise (USA)
Brazil's weakness is in goal. Julio Cesar is no Tafarel. We're got to put immense pressure on them, and shut off Maricol on the right wing. Bradley will outsmart Dunga. Remember what kaka said "its not how u start, its how u finish". USA 3 Brazil 0.
26/06/2009 at 02:17BrodiFAAbs (Brazil)
Playing good or playing bad BRAZIl just keeps on winning! Don't hate you all... JUST BEAT IT and then talk as much as you want... until that happens.... VIVA BRAZIL and GO SELECAO!!! STILL THE ONE TEAM TO BEAT AROUND THE GLOBE!!! THE TRUE CHAMPION OF ALL CHAMPIONS!!!! Bringing another trophy to the gallery!!!! hahahaha
26/06/2009 at 02:16USArise (USA)
Brazil, first u beat us 3-0, then you helped us get in. you just woke up the sleeping giant. I love your futbol and pele, but you are about to face the first breed of pure american soccer players. US 3 Brazil 0.
26/06/2009 at 02:10booguman (Costa Rica)
I am surprise of the view of some of the European fans about Brazil game. Brazil has many ways to beat their opponents. If they consider their self technically and physically superior they will try to play a very fast and pressing game. If they consider that they are in a disadvantage physically they will play with more caution, study their rival and counter attack when they have a chance. Today SA played a good game, but that was not enough to consider that they played better or at the level of Brazil. The only team in Europe that knows how to play Brazil is France, the rest of the European teams know how to play against the Football wizards (they confuse a poor game with letting the rival relax to shock at the end)
26/06/2009 at 02:04Jjunior2014 (Brazil)
USA = BAD TEAM
26/06/2009 at 01:57Jjunior2014 (Brazil)
This comment goes to LACERF(USA), hope you learn something about football before talking rot. Brazil is 5 times winner of cups.
26/06/2009 at 01:46PROPATRHCATP (Brazil)
HEY! Buckalicious (USA): brazil is vulnerable ? BRAZIL is not a child ... IN SOCCERCRACY you guys in CONCACAF ARE below of honduras, Costa Rica (great chicos) and Mexico (braves soccer players) this is a facT! SECOND PLACE to USa is more than the most otimist americans can expect!
26/06/2009 at 01:31Lisa108 (Australia)
Brazil will win easy.
26/06/2009 at 01:29PROPATRHCATP (Brazil)
I was sad when seeing ON TV some Africans crying. In some seconds I remembered of what the Brazilians had felt in MARACANASSO in 1950 - the biggest tragedy of all the times. SO, please brazilians brother lets move on and stop talk about this game, letS do like the Uruguayan player GIGHIA did not say anything ABOUT MARACANASSO because he having seen of close the sadness in the face to each Brazilian in that day. Today, I see the impoRtancy of the words from GIGHIA he was a great gentleman. LETS BE A GOOD AND FAIR WINNER. BAFANAS PLAYED A HIGH SOCCER. TO THE SOUTH AFRICAS I SAY: UNTIL THE BRAZILIAN SOCCER ONLY IT IS NOT MADE OF VICTORIES. BAFANAS GOOD LUCK NEXT YEAR!

ESP VS USA

ESP 0 - 2 USA

braxtonrob (USA)
farruhsubhon...you wish! "20-25" teams...what an exaggeration!!! Every (thinking) fan knows USA deserves their 14th World Ranking, and we'll soon be bumped up to 11th. Anyone who watches the USA team constantly knows this tournament is no where near the type of form we'll be in by 2010. A lot of doubters just recall us choking in '98 and '06, but you'll see...we're going to put it altogether one day and shock the world!
28/06/2009 at 17:21manutd00 (Malta)
USA ARE THE WORST TEAM EVER!!!! (except kazakhstan)
28/06/2009 at 17:13manutd00 (Malta)
Why would Kazakstan need revenge on Brasil? BTW usa are bad at soccer and hockey
28/06/2009 at 15:14farruhsubhon (USA)
Well, everyone knows that Spain and 20-25 other teams in Europe are stronger than US. If they had the second game I am pretty sure Spain would smash USA 4:0 or 5:1. However, that specific day the fortune was with Americans and they deserve a win for great efforts and guts. Good job Yankees! Keep it up...
28/06/2009 at 08:30teenager (Kazakhstan)
I'm looking forward to the revenge.I want the US to win. Go, USA!!!
28/06/2009 at 08:11braxtonrob (USA)
USA is a stout side; the soccer world already knows this. We often play below expectations, so expectations are often low. USA will play a great game against Brazil and remind the world that we are still on a fast track to consistently keeping company with the world's elite. And! come next year, when surprise - Kenny Cooper joins the team, his shocking efficiency around the net is going propel USA to the final AGAIN!
28/06/2009 at 04:17dubVman (USA)
I hope we win, but I still think a win in the Azteca would be bigger. I think beating Mexico there is harder than tomorrows final. Yes US is better right now than Mexico, and yes Mexico used to beat the crap out of everyone in CONCACAF. I think the CONCACAF fans should root for each other when we are not competing against each other. Lets leave the smack talk when the Gold Cup starts and when qualifiers come around again. Go US, viva CONCACAF!
28/06/2009 at 00:42marce81 (USA)
honestly i am sick of listening to everyones comments you are all just jealous ive followed my country for many years now and i am very proud of what we accomplished and its just the beginning see you in the world cup next year oh wait no we wont oops, atleast we'll be there.
28/06/2009 at 00:33samskinner (USA)
USA USA USA.... Spain people need to stop whining. Jozy Altidore did warn capdevilla he would score and he did.
27/06/2009 at 23:35MeltinPot10 (USA)
I just think that USA won because we had the most HEART. Yes spain outmatched us, but they didnt see us as a threat, therefore they didnt play us as one. USA was the better theam that day; tomorrow we will win becauase we are the underdog and Americans relish in that position cause it makes us fight better and tomorrow we will win!
27/06/2009 at 23:23marce81 (USA)
we tied el salvador in el salvador, lost to trinidad with our back ups and lost to costa rica in costa rica which we have never won there. funny how when we beat brazil or whatever its because we played theyre back ups cmon now look into things before you speak. but that doesnt matter anymore, all those concacaf teams including mexico would never in the position we are in right now, so beat our b or c teams all you want, how you gonna feel when our b team beats everyone in the gold cup this time? the world is starting to see who is superior in concacaf and you all cant stand it, sore losers if you ask me.
27/06/2009 at 22:54Soccercat00 (Malta)
Marce, might i memind u that usa LOST to EL slavador, trinidad, AND costa rico?
27/06/2009 at 22:39marce81 (USA)
they bash us because they hate us and cant admit that we are a contender and theyre team never was nor never will be, sorry mexico.
27/06/2009 at 22:29pirotehnik (Bosnia-Herzegovina)
29 to 9 in shots, 17 to 3 in corners, 16 to 9 in dead balls. Now, I'm not here to diminish the result, but some of you need to get your heads out of the clouds. The US was outperformed by Spain--the statistics speak to it. However, the US was also more efficient, especially defensively, while managing to sneak 2 past Casillas.. Overall a good result for the states, but far from "a slaughter of the #1 team in the world" that everyone seems to be pushing..
27/06/2009 at 22:24Telume (USA)
We're not overly confident at all, as a matter of fact we're optimistic about our chances and even when we won we gave our opponents all the respect they deserve. It's the fans from the opposing teams who have been bashing us all this time and it's funny because even the teams themselves applauded us. All the fans have been doing though is bashing the US.
27/06/2009 at 19:25marce81 (USA)
i would like to remind mexico fans that you are not in this cup, you lost to us so you are not here. i would also like to remind you that you lost to el salvador and honduras and barely beat trinidad, so who will you lose to next? anyway go USA. it feels good to be in a final by the way, hows that 3rd place feel for you all now?
27/06/2009 at 18:27MarkusMerk (Mexico)
I would like to remind USA fans that just because you beat Spain, doesn't mean you will get the same results against every team. Every game is different, every team is different.
27/06/2009 at 17:39DLaskaris (Greece)
I really like Spain both as a country and as a football team and I was really looking forward to a Spain-Brasil final. However USA team proved their worth by winning a huge victory and deserve to be congratulated. It doesn't matter how or why the final scored was formed, all that matters is that USA players played with their all heart and defeated the world's best national squad. I just wish my country's national squad could play like this against such a strong opponent. Congratulations USA!
27/06/2009 at 16:12pizzaevino (Canada)
ALL our support to Brazil !!!
27/06/2009 at 14:42BiChO-BRA (Brazil)
Like I told! Spain wasn't playing so good and after the 1x0 match against Iraq, I told the 2 teams of group B would meet again in the final match.. It becomes a fact!
27/06/2009 at 07:40Ecko72jc (Egypt)
It amazes me that so many people are claiming USA were lucky against Egypt and Spain. Has everyone gone crazy with envy? When has a team been lucky enough to win 3-0 and then beat the number one ranked Spain by two nil. There were no lucky calls for Team USA in either of those games. Both goals were legitimate and they even held Spain to a scoreless game. How much can you ask of a team? Did anyone expect US to advance this far? Of course not, 99.9% world thought they would lose to Spain but even when they prevail people treat it as a loss. Anyone who claims luck is a fool.
27/06/2009 at 03:36Lelei481 (Brazil)
I wish best of Luck to the USA vs Brasil. This Match will atract alot of viewers.
27/06/2009 at 02:00elcineasta7 (USA)
Great job.. one quart of the USA team are either of Mexican descends or at least half Mexican.. how ironic!! hahaha...
27/06/2009 at 00:28jahworld (USA)
Luck????....Comments English commentators after Champions League semi-final against Barca in Spain 0-0 ..."Chelsea's strategy was so intelligent." "Played to their strength." "Their defense so strong." "A beautiful result." The USA played Spain straight up in the first half, and because of Spain's relentless attacking, USA played a lot of the second half on defense. They weren't playing 11 behind the ball until the red card. Prior to that they still had two up top. The reason it went defensive was because Spain was pushing forward so successfully (at least until they got to the box).
26/06/2009 at 21:23Ongenaet (USA)
you dont get lucky when you beat spain by 2 and shut them out. spain didnt lose they got beat.
26/06/2009 at 21:21dubVman (USA)
@PATMAN, I think a tour of the Americas for New Zealand would be agreat idea for them to prepare for the playoff. Especially the Central American teams. The Asian teams will play very similar styles.
26/06/2009 at 21:18dubVman (USA)
kura, thanks for clarifying that for him. Also, janbouli why do you hate the US so much anyway? Is it not okay for Americans to be happy that their team won? When the US lost Costa Rica in qualifying, I was able to congratulate the CRC. But maybe that is because I respect others, and especially teams in my region (CONCACAF). When people from Europe talk smack on my region it annoys me so much. Lets not forget you people qualified against Scotland, Iceland, Macedonia, and Norway. Not exactly power houses. Remember this is supposed to be the beautiful game, and you are making it ugly.
26/06/2009 at 21:08dubVman (USA)
Pizzaveno, how WC has Canada even been to? Be quiet dude. You don't follow Canada, just another wannabe, eh?
26/06/2009 at 20:47Messi10_ARG (Argentina)
Wow every one thought that spain were going to make it to the final. Talk about a choke huh?
26/06/2009 at 20:40galcala (USA)
USA-1 Brazil-0 :)
26/06/2009 at 18:14Ronofbrazil1 (USA)
I have a lot of respect for Spain, they certainly deserve their label as the world's best. They displayed dignity in defeat, not arrogance. I'm very proud of the US side, particularly the defense, I've said it before Howard is the worlds best and my all time favorite goal tender (Casillas my 2nd favorite). Go USA!!!!
26/06/2009 at 15:44nanyukiborn (Sweden)
Was very impressed by the plucky americans who thrashed europe's best by 2 goals to nil, good for you USA!!!
26/06/2009 at 11:55LOROUSA (USA)
FACT#3: Spain is better than the USA and played a better match than them in their losing effort. They controlled the ball and the tempo of the game and created far more scoring chances. They're also stronger technically. But the best team doesn't always win. Kudos to the USA for a great defensive effort, they did what they had to do and DESERVEDLY advanced to the final. But that does not mean they were the better team. The USA still couldn't find a way to keep the ball and build-up their play as they should. Spain shot itself in the foot twice and paid the price. But, as I've been saying for a few years now, the USA will eventually become a football powerhouse. They've been improving steadily since the 94WC and the day will come (when there's more money in the sport to attract the best athletes in the USA) when the USA will be a permanent fixture in the world's top ten. GOOD LUCK USA on Sunday. I hope you'll find a way to duplicate your awesome win vs Spain and lift the CONFED CUP.
26/06/2009 at 10:24youessay (USA)
LOL! Look at all the haters from Canada on here! Does Canada even have a futbol team..? You guys still angry that no NHL team won the Stanley Cup yet again this year or what...? Hope all of you on here enjoy watching the United States play in the final on Sunday....Cause even if we dont win, at least we made it there....And thats pretty nice for a nation whos sports are most payed attention to, dont even include futbol.... After the first Brazil game i was furious with the us's performance in this tournament but know i couldnt be happier go USA
26/06/2009 at 08:12Southafric10 (South Africa)
Congratulations to the Americans indeed. The guys have made HISTORY and it was a brought moment for me when they scored their second goal.I was up jumping, screaming and clapping in my living room.

Congrats to the U.S. on their victory over Spain from a Brazilian. The U.S. played a great tactical game, almost a textbook way for an (admitely) lesser talented & experienced team against a SUPPOSSED "Ginat" of football in Spain. Today the RSA came somewhat close to duplicating the U.S. performance against Brazil. The RSA held on bravely for 87 minutes, but Brazil finally got the narrow victory they deserved. Memo to the U.S. team: Examine carefully the Brazil-RSA video, and learn from what the RSA was ALMOST successful at. But dont go overboard. If the U.S. gets too defensive the U.S. will lose. In an ideal situation for the U.S. they might keep Brazil scoreless by playing total D for 90 minutes or even the 120 minutes of an extra time game. But the U.S. will NOT win a penalty shootout. First because Brazil has learned its lesson from the 1986 WC and has not lost a penalty shoot out since. And second because never in its history has Brazil had such a great goalie, Julio Cesar is truly superb, and the U.S. goalie is, frankly, not much above avergae. Therefore, the U.S. has to find the delicate balance between enough D to slow down Kaka, Fabiano and Robinho, but enough offense to score a goal before Brazil does. A very narrow and delicate balance. Can the U.S. beat Brazil? Well, yes. There are no unsinkable ships, or unbeatable teams. But the U.S. will need to play a near perfect game. I give the U.S. a 10% chance of winning. The game could be a 1-0 U.S. victory, a 1 or 2-0 Brazil victory if the U.S. does not suffer an early score. But if Brazil scores eaarly Brazil will win in a 3, 4, or 5-0 romp. As a Brazilian, I cannot wish the U.S. team "Good Luck", but you have my gratitude for bursting the arrogant ego of WAY OVERRATED Spain.
26/06/2009 at 06:20amypato (Canada)
LET'S GO BRAZIL!!!!
26/06/2009 at 05:25pizzaevino (Canada)
Hey Duckie_USA, the rest of the teams are taking care of the world cups they won, by the way, how many world cups U.S. won? (oops) GO BRASIL!!
26/06/2009 at 05:25flashm94 (USA)
real world class football team?? lol i doubt it it still would take more then just beating the #1 team.
26/06/2009 at 04:25pizzaevino (Canada)
Too bad, S.Africa lost playing better than Brazil, it happens, OUR SUPPORT TO BRAZIL !!! Let's go guys to show them how to play.
26/06/2009 at 03:33_imre_ (South Africa)
Nick_FM: I agree - that thing about experience and skill on paper is so true in soccer and reality even, where you can look good on paper and not be as good in performance. Basically I hope that the Final match is great and that there are no red cards or peanuts and also silly mistakes. I have a slight feeling that USA will take it, Brazil are probably the favourites and everybody would expect them to hammer anybody. May the best team win. And dont look at the ball, run for it and take it, and then shoot for the target not for the stars, no time to launch new satelites.
26/06/2009 at 02:30BrodiFAAbs (Brazil)
Congrats to the USA team! TODAY, we the football fans and "weekend players" around the globe, thank you for the HUGE display of a team work and perseverance in the field! Proofing that David CAN beat Goliath and that a FOOTBALL match is won IN THE FIELD! It DOESN'T matter how great and wonderful people can think a team is. The match is won IN THE FIELD and until the last wistle sounds! If you can NOT win inside those terms... than maybe you were NEVER that great of a TEAM from the get go! That lesson, the SELECAO learned LONG AGO! Good job USA! Showing why the US TEAM is NORTH American Champion for 2x in a row! We will see you guys at the FINAL! PS: Brazil still will WIN it ALL! My heart still speaks louder at the end BUT I am sure proud and happy to have the USA team there with us on this ALL AMERICAN EVENT!!! PS: What happened to the European Teams?? O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D!!!! hahaha :)
26/06/2009 at 02:26bobbyr64 (USA)
Soccercat00, I re-read your comment, just like you told me to, and I think I understood it pretty well the first time. Especially the part about everyone playing "HORRIBLE", and now you're saying everyone played ok, and better than the Spanish. Thanks for the clarification.
26/06/2009 at 02:22Duckie_USA (USA)
Congrats Brasil! I cant wait til Sundays match. Hopefully USA will be seen as a real world class futbol team. As for all the haters just remember, where will your teams be Sunday.......watching the game on TV. GO USA!!!!!!!
26/06/2009 at 02:03Kura2583 (USA)
@janbouli (Netherlands) "it does take North Americans to call their cup The Gold Cup instead of just what it is, but then Americans are good at that, calling their leagues World Series and such" Sorry had to point out that the World Series is what the top teams of the MLB play.... Looks to me you were referring North America to the US. Like I said before no worries.
26/06/2009 at 01:59Nick_FM (USA)
Wow,seems like some people are just jealous... We DON'T think we have the best NT,and we're not being arrogant...we're just proud of our guys?Is that so wrong? And I guess our detractors have never seen a team play defensive before? And we're sorry that the U.S.A. came to win,and not to roll over and die for Spain just because they're better on paper (which we know they are!)
26/06/2009 at 01:49Kura2583 (USA)
-janbouli (Netherlands)"@dubvman why do you suppose I said North America , because I know the US is only a part of it , something most US citizens tend to forget." --------- Yes but you fail to understand where dubvman is coming from. North America is only the US, Canada, and Mexico. The rest is considered Central America and the Caribbean, but your obvious hatred and bigotry toward Americans had you attacking dubvman instead of realizing your mistake (CONCACAF=The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football). No worries. As for the Game sunday, I hope the US can take what both Egypt and South Africa did to Brazil and learn from those games. I still think Brazil will win, but anything is possible. Good Luck USA!!!
26/06/2009 at 01:23GRIFFINDINHO (Australia)
patman but ireland play better football than america
26/06/2009 at 01:13Soccercat00 (Malta)
I dont dislike america, i dislike how cocky they can get, im canadian, thats how i know! They have a better team than us(malta and canada) but i hate how cocky they can get. Bradley played OK, Demerit played OK, and pretty much everyone did, I think they got lucky and Spain played bad(most americans played better than the spanish, but noone really played well except for like 5 people. Howard played really bad, although i will admit he made 2 very good and crutial saves. The main thing is i dont HATE america, I just think they played bad, and am voicing my opinion! ( the facing reality part was me trying to say that they need to pick it up to win, and i dont think that they are going to do it). read the responce more throughly next time.
26/06/2009 at 00:46Greasy (USA)
Our Mejican friends just can't handle our success. It is funny and sad at the same time. When Mejico plays in the World Cup, I pull for them (and all CONCACAF teams), unless they play us (Jeonju, South Korea baby!). Just get used to the fact that times have changed. In 20 years, the Mejicans may clearly be on top again, or the Ticos, who knows? Man up and accept it.
26/06/2009 at 00:22suparockin (Australia)
from one developing football power to another - congratulations! Hopefully the Aussies and Yanks can show these Europeans how far we've both come at the World Cup!
26/06/2009 at 00:19BlueCorsair (Australia)
Congratulations to US - deserved victory! I really wanted Spain to win, I liked their team very much during recent years, but that was a victory of US defense and counter attack. No luck whatsoever - people that say "luck is the reason " in football just make themselves look poor with such pathetic excuse, especially in this match - no poor refereeing, no disallowed goals etc. etc. Statistics means nothing for the football heart. For USArise and others saying Spain needs to prove themselves to be called a power - I fully agree now. There was no consistency from Spain, you can't put crap defending on crucial occasion. As for US vs Brazil - yes, Brazil are the favourites, but so were Spain, and Brazil had very hard game against South Africa, and prevailed only by cutting edge quality of the set-piece - no luck, once again, but it was a pretty even fight) - so anything can happen in the final. Good luck.
26/06/2009 at 00:18dirtyd (USA)
soccercat00 what do you mean by the US being overrated when everyone expected them to lose?
25/06/2009 at 23:49el9nino (USA)
bobbyr64- im glad somebody mentioned onyewu. either him, donovan, or howard deserved man of the match. as for Soccercat00, what is your problem? the usa played like the best team in the world, and thats who they beat. honestly, after what they did, im twice as proud to be from the usa. if the usa played horribly, how could they beat spain!? i almost understand if you dont like the usa, but jeez! im 13 and i know enough to admit it if a team i didnt like was the better team
25/06/2009 at 23:46Patman (Netherlands)
USA=Ireland=New Zealand; they never give up. Brazil, undeserved winners tonight. Good luck to all 4 teams, in whichever game they play; let's hope for some more unforgettable football, and let's hope for less of the nonsense from some of the so-called correspondents..
25/06/2009 at 23:37Patman (Netherlands)
Ahem, USA=Ireland=New Zealand - they never give up.. Give the USA a bit of credit for once, people, and to NZ as well; Kiwis, get a load of friendlies against quality opposition organised quick-sharp!
25/06/2009 at 23:29Patman (Netherlands)
Sorry, I also mentioned that the Egyptian team were (and are) very unsporting, but fair play to their supporters on the website - completely the opposite, and well done to them. More than you can say for many anti-USA fans, some of whom you can investigate below.. Brazil to win, 1:0; good luck to all 4 teams in their respective games (Brazil undeservedly won, the USA didn't). USA=Ireland=New Zealand (well done the Kiwis; keep up the good work, and tour the Americas before the play-offs).
25/06/2009 at 23:22bobbyr64 (USA)
Quoting Soccercat00: "I watched the full game and they played HORRIBLE! EVERY player on usa played horrible except for Altidore and Dempsey(who played alright). The americans think that they are the best at EVERYTHING just because they are american, and they are sooooo cocky!" Are you kidding me? Were you watching some other team, some other match? Were you a little sleepy? Did you notice the phenomenal defensive performance by Onyewu and Demerit, or the solid midfield play of Clark and Bradley? Apparently not. You're confusing your dislike of America with the American team. The last thing they are or ever have been is cocky. So, when it comes to "facing reality", you might want to watch the next match without your anti-american goggles on.
25/06/2009 at 23:13Patman (Netherlands)
I've just had a long message banned because it "seemed"to contain profanities.. Well done USA; never mind the Dutch bigots(nothing new there)..
25/06/2009 at 22:40dirtyd (USA)
thank you very much janbouli for clearing up the confusion of there being other countries in north america. if it werent for people like you we wouldnt remember how to tie our shoes over here.
25/06/2009 at 22:22pennydropper (USA)
After looking over-awed against Italy and Brazil, the USA finally dug deep for some grit and spirit and played fine soccer against Egypt and Spain. While Egypt did not play their best against the States, Spain certainly did and the USA took all their best shots. This experience of playing against the very best teams in the world in a competitive tournament is exactly what Team USA needed in preparation for next summer's World Cup. The victory against Spain, the #1 ranked team on the planet, proves that -- on their best day -- the Americans can beat anyone. Whether Team USA wins the Confederations Cup or not, they have served notice to the world to not take them lightly next summer.
25/06/2009 at 22:12pizzaevino (Canada)
soccercat00...I agree 100% with you...
25/06/2009 at 22:11realdiehl13 (USA)
Its not called luck when you block 20 shots in a game, its called determination, and a commitment to throwing your body out in front of every Spanish shot. Watching this game was like watching Rocky IV. The US was getting hit every which way you can imagine, but they kept coming after Spain with relentless pursuit, and when they had their few chances, they went for the knockout.
25/06/2009 at 21:58pizzaevino (Canada)
Italy will support Brasil for the final... Adiante Brasil !!
25/06/2009 at 21:56bestdefender (USA)
I am a USA supporter all the way, but I have to admit that I am kind of surprised by their win. I am happy as ever by it, though. I know that Spain is a really tough team, so kudos to the USA for their terrific win.
25/06/2009 at 21:45mrcardinal (USA)
Congrats USA, I didn't think you would beat Spain. My bad. I love how teams can be a huuge underdog and manage to come up on top. Once again, good job! ..go England. ^^
25/06/2009 at 21:37janbouli (Netherlands)
@usa_drew14, getting red cards against you has nothing to do with bad or good luck, they are a part of the game and are mosttimes due to a big fault in defending @ ublast The last time Brazil and Netherlands played for world cup it was a draw and penaltys are as we all know moer luck then wisdom. To all you Brazilians that are bashing Spain, at least Spain was very unlucky unlike Brazil this night witch did not derserve the win on South Africa at all. @dubvman why do you suppose I said North America , because I know the US is only a part of it , something most US citizens tend to forget.
25/06/2009 at 21:14jahworld (USA)
@PROPATRHCATP - I do remember Oscar. That was some amazing stuff!!! He was definitely in the zone. Good analogy, but I don't think we are going to be flash in the pan. I think we are slowly but steadily growing as football country. This is just another step in the climb, just as Beckham coming and the 60,000 that watched him in the fantastic NY Red Bulls vs. Galaxy game...just as the Seattle Sounders and their 35,000 screaming fans every week....these are all steps in the climb, and we just took a big step yesterday!!
25/06/2009 at 20:49usa_drew14 (USA)
For all of you people who are pathetically claiming "luck". Three red cards in four games? Not lucky. We are the most penalized team every time we play internationally. Lucky doesn't belong in the same sentence as USA. When we win it is because we have stronger faster players, who maybe don't always have the most skill, who want it more than the other team, even when we are playing a man down (every game).
25/06/2009 at 20:21peterbonito (USA)
Most depressing Spain game ive ever watched, they have such a bomb team; Casillas, Puyol, Ramos, Fabregas, Xavi, Torres, Villa; what more could they want? im really disappointed i expected alot more from spain
25/06/2009 at 20:11akbisw (USA)
Knew United States could do it. Estados Unidos es el mejor.
25/06/2009 at 20:09haha_WTF (USA)
as for Soccercat00 maybe we are overrated maybe not at 14 but definitely we do not rank 150 in the world. sounds familiar?...hahaha...and if brazil beat us so what? they are ranked top 5...
25/06/2009 at 20:07cjInMS (USA)
I was shocked when the 80th minute rolled around and I figured there'd be another goal scored and we'd win either 3-0 or 2-1 with 2-1 being far more likely. I'd never believe we'd beat the number 1 ranked team in the world. I'd be surprised if the USA doesn't again get into the top 12 when July ranking rolls around. Those who saw the game know Spain never gave up. I'm not convinced that the Spanish players didn't respect the American players. Many of the world media and Spain's National team fans perhaps would have this game a cakewalk, but this is why the play the game on grass, not paper.
25/06/2009 at 19:46haha_WTF (USA)
if the game was played for 15 min and howard blocked 1 or 2 shots and we scored 1 goal then yes i agreed it was luck or fluke or whatever u guys want to call it... but it was played over 90 minutes and we were out shot by 29 to 9 and we scored "2" goals. i called it hard fought and well deserved win. as for brazil game...that's another game and another time
25/06/2009 at 19:40Soccercat00 (Malta)
I think the americans are WAY OVERATED! I watched the full game and they played HORRIBLE! EVERY player on usa played horrible except for Altidore and Dempsey(who played alright). The americans think that they are the best at EVERYTHING just because they are american, and they are sooooo cocky! I hope they lose in the final so they can FACE REALITY!
25/06/2009 at 19:28sarisbar (USA)
This is a great accomplishment by the USA team. Soccer has become a stronger sport here and it is showing.
25/06/2009 at 19:22domcan2Dbone (Dominica)
football is a glorious game played on a field and not on paper . USA are tough opponents for any team anywhere. I had been skeptical about the US team before. However that team is very fit and strong and can play good strategic football . You may be skillfull but when you meet strong and will full with good football awareness you are in for a fight. Spain found that out
25/06/2009 at 19:18Savannahnerd (Canada)
I didn't watch the game, but from the statistics I can see that the US must have had an amazing keeper. I think this is horrible; we now have another super power to contend with. Spain needs to pull up their socks and make sure they are never beaten by America again.
25/06/2009 at 19:03Julito77 (USA)
The USA played a great game. They played like a unit and got some lucky breaks, which always happens at soccer. I think Spain really tried but in the end the US played more like a unit and Howard was a great keeper. Also, I do think some of the American players (Altidore, Gooch) were too physically strong for the Spanish team. Here's hoping Villarreal realizes what they have in Altidore.
25/06/2009 at 18:31Arms1421 (USA)
I wouldn't say Spain is overrated, they had their chances, kept knocking on the door but couldn't score. I didn't see them try any shots from outside like Italy did against the US. Anyhow, it's great for Concacaf and can't wait for the final on Sunday.
25/06/2009 at 18:29Wasse-BRA (Brazil)
Pharo1964, Spain never won a World Champion, therefore they are not world champions. They won a local tournament in Europe, what means nothing now adays with all the world international football level. Good luck for South Africa today but I predict it will be not so difficult to Brazil to beat it. And the final, good luck also to USA, but I don't see any big deal for Brazil to beat it too. My wish was Brazil and Spain, to show to the world who is Brasil, to score 4x1 on this poor Spain.
25/06/2009 at 17:59dubVman (USA)
Spain is great, but we all know if Brazil actually comes to compete it will be like playing football gods. But Titans were greater than the gods....
25/06/2009 at 17:09uBlast (Brazil)
@janbouli I really don´t get you saying something like Spain and Netherlands both only able to win Brazil. Spain could not win USA team and you talk about beat Brazil? I watched all Spain games in confederations cup and you wanna know? I didn´t see anything to justify the cult for Spain. A good team, but pretty normal. That´s all. About Netherlands, also a good team, but how about some trophies, show me some (?) Plus, Brazil does not need to proved anything to anyone, specially to Netherlands that lost in the last two times it faced Brazil in World Cups.
25/06/2009 at 17:04Sevastator (Canada)
I'm disappointed with the result but there really isn't much to say about it. The Americans defended better and took their chances from the counter-attack. The States probably was a little lucky, but not a great deal. I think this now makes the USA the favorites to win. If they can play like this against Spain they can beat either of the other teams. And I think Spain's recent run of domination is probably over, now everyone will know they are able to beat them.
25/06/2009 at 16:49Mooseboost (USA)
That was awesome!!! U!-S!-A!
25/06/2009 at 16:43Pharo1964 (Egypt)
congratualtions to the US team for their win against the world champions spain .. this can not be luck .. but it is dedication and team spirit .. US did not just throw Spain out of the cha, pionship final but broke spain's team no-defeat record since 2006 .. once again USA team proved that physical fitness can beat the skil .. my very best to the USA team and good luck to you in the final :))
25/06/2009 at 16:41Mr.hayes (USA)
Go USA!!! I took a look at the team line up against Egypt and i told a friend That USA team will upset the European champions.Expect the best of this team in the finals.
25/06/2009 at 16:40megadeth010 (USA)
I'm very excited for the US team! They finally have a shot at a finals game, although it will be a tough match regardless of who they play. My hat's off to the US team. We finally have a chance!
25/06/2009 at 16:29pizzaevino (Canada)
the only thing that impressed me, was the big luck they had in 2 games, but luck runs away...lol
25/06/2009 at 16:28Big_Ell-HMFC (Scotland)
i have to say that i agree with what janbouli said, it was 1 lucky game for USA, i dont think they could do that again if they played spain again soon
25/06/2009 at 16:17dubVman (USA)
janbouli, The Gold Cup is what CONCACAF named it, not North Americans. Also, you do realise that North America is a continent and not a country, right? North America has Canada, US, and Mexico in it. Go pick some flowers.
25/06/2009 at 16:15dubVman (USA)
Essam and Howard are definately the best keepers in this tourney. Howard will probably get the award because he'll have more saves, bith were on point though. Very good.
25/06/2009 at 16:10MTPaul (USA)
USA! Never underestimate the power of hustle and due diligence... DeMerit was the man on defense!
25/06/2009 at 16:06Victor13-USA (USA)
well USA finally got what they deserved and tough luck for Spain cause they are an incredible squad. well it's going to be USA vs. BRAZIL on sunday. :)
25/06/2009 at 15:55mexico24 (USA)
BRAZIL 3-0 TO USA ,IN THE FINAL AGAIN
25/06/2009 at 15:54bigdavido82 (USA)
Great game plan by coach Bradley! USA's only chance was to play defensive and limit Torres and co. offensive opportunities. Davies was great for USA in first half but Spain's halftime adjustments negated him, he's gotta be able to sustain that form for whole 90min. Jozy was great for us too, making best of his chances and Feilhaber was a great impact sub. I think Donovan and our back D line played GREAT! Only negative is silly tackle by Bradley Jr., still shouldn't have been a red but the game was in hand by then no need for that kind of aggressive tackling. Congrats USA and thx to Spain for classy gm, they are crazy talented, ball just didn't bounce their way.

ESP VS RSA

ESP 3 VS 2 RSA

What a showing by the smaller footballing nations in this tournament. Lets hope they build on these performances for the WC as we know the likes of Spain, Italy and Brazil will!
28/06/2009 at 23:22samsun92 (USA)
The Spanish players were awesome today. I didn't think they were gonna win at first but the did a fantastic job bringing the game around, Go Daniel Guiza and Xabi Alonso!!!
28/06/2009 at 23:02_imre_ (South Africa)
Who was maybe a little frustrated with SA's performance up front ?
28/06/2009 at 22:09Hammerfan81 (England)
South Africa can take heart from this performance. I think theyve done enough in this tournament to show theyre worthy world cup hosts and are capable of getting out of the group stages at the very least. As for Spain they will likely be hoping to go 2 better next year. And with a squad like theirs its possible.
28/06/2009 at 22:04pinkfloyd56 (Germany)
My honest compliments to a very strong south african team. I never expected that they are able to play eye to eye against teams like Brazil or Spain. For the future it will be necessary that they show the same discipline combined with the same passion also against teams that aren`t ranked so high.
28/06/2009 at 19:19aTriniboy (USA)
You got to love this game! Great perfomance by both teams. One has to appreciate the effort by bafana bafana SA; and Spain showed why they are one of the best.
28/06/2009 at 19:03BSVE1211 (Ecuador)
Spain deserve the third place after losing to USA in the semifinal.
28/06/2009 at 18:49Gutch220 (USA)
I can't beleive SA got that goal in stoppage time to make it 2-2. South Africa tried as hard as they could to get it to penalty kicks but Xabi made a superb free kick. It was perfect. South Africa should be proud and be looking forward to getting out of their group in the WC.
28/06/2009 at 18:29futballmasta (USA)
A great game one to remember, South Africa gave all they had. The score began late but they came fast and often, Spain was the better team but SA fought hard and should be proud of there performance. The final will be played the same way with Brazil being the better team but the USA fighting all the way. The team that scores 1st will probably win. Who ever wins will have to earn it the hard way. USA can win this game and anybody that doubts that does not know Futball. They can win if they play with the passion that got them here and if Brazil thinks for one sec that this game is going to be easy they will go down just like Egypt and Spain.
28/06/2009 at 18:03lfcdiehard_c (Mauritius)
Duh....Guiza resurrection! torres and villa... no golden boot for them!
28/06/2009 at 17:45Sibonelo_RSA (South Africa)
OJ, Benni, Khanyeza or even Morris don't need to be in this team... what made this team come this far is Santana and his technical team rooting out all the bad seeds and maintaining discipline. Benni for instance picks and chooses games he wants to play in, Khanyeza is problematic even in his own team.
28/06/2009 at 17:42WaterFall01 (USA)
it was such interesting game to watch! i thought spain was in for another loss but then i love how they redeem themselves! i love SPAIN!!! whoo hooo get that world cup you guys ^^
28/06/2009 at 17:41throumbs (Cyprus)
Booooooooth, go spain, was a mediocre game until '75 when the goals started pouring in. Nicely played by both teams.

Well done South Africa!! You put up a great fight against the World No1...now bring on 2010!! For me Tshabalala was the best SA player in this tournament!!
28/06/2009 at 17:37Rashaka (South Africa)
Well Done SA on hosting a succesful Confed Cup 2009. to Bafana we are a nation united and you have made us proud
28/06/2009 at 17:36Ironboot (USA)
Excellent game, super entertaining! I feel a bit sorry for South Africa you put up an excellent fight. Congratulations Spain!

62062159 i think ur right about OJ,as 4 benni i dont know, the guy is full of himself nd is not proud to be a south african,we don't need people like him,we hav a lot of people who can score goals, what we need is defence.
28/06/2009 at 17:09concupwin (Bulgaria)
Congrats on the bronze medals Spain, I couldn't watch the game but I was rooting for you^^ South Africa, you played great against Brazil and I see you did very good against Spain too, congrats on the 4th place and good luck in the future^^

Go South Africa! i think they are a great team with a lot of talent that will do great. i think they have been underestimated. Go South Africa! Beat Spain.
28/06/2009 at 12:0162062159 (South Africa)
soccer is a game of perfectionists we need benni and mabizela to stand a chance they are by far better than what we have in our squad
28/06/2009 at 11:42Lisa108 (Australia)
Look! Spain may have not expected to lose THAT semi-final, but unfortunately that's the way it is. I hope Spain will come out with a win to end the tournament. In 12 months' time, they will be better prepared for ANYTHING!

THE LOST 2_0 FOR SPAIN WAS VERY SHAMFUL.I KNOW THAT A LOST AGAINST RSA IS A REALLY WORST FOR SPAIN IN CONFEDRATION CUP.
28/06/2009 at 07:34Animalfreak (Belgium)
Spain will win 2-0,the same score as the previous match.
28/06/2009 at 05:37antechx (USA)
Go South Africa !!!!
28/06/2009 at 03:37BigBoss1964 (USA)
There's no point to this match...they both lost.
28/06/2009 at 03:25hilbun (Australia)
Tatah01 (USA)... you should get your facts right... nigeria won 3-2
28/06/2009 at 02:57Felipe_II (USA)
Tatah, they mean in the 21st century.
28/06/2009 at 01:00Hammerfan81 (England)
Spain will recover from their shock defeat to run out winners here. 2-1
28/06/2009 at 00:19femlad (Nigeria)
Did you know what? Spain could have played African opposition four times so far this century, they DID NOT win every match to date! Super Eagles of Nigeria practically sent Spain out of the France '98 World Cup with a stunning 3-2 victory. One of the goals was a ballistic missile from Sunday Oliseh, that passed for one of the great goals of the tournament. I support Spain to win tomorrow. But they would be underating the hosts at their own peril. Once bitten, twice shy for both countries.
28/06/2009 at 00:14Meka2009 (Canada)
I really hope Spain comes out with a win.
28/06/2009 at 00:06Meka2009 (Canada)
I think Spain mmight struggle at first from the dissapointing loss to the U.S. but as early as the 45th minute I think and hope Spain will come on top and end this tournament with a win. I'm going to get up early to see the game. I hope Spain will win the 2010 World Cup.
27/06/2009 at 22:27RTMIlover (Canada)
I think Spain will be a little discouraged but they will come out on top. That is how the number 1 team in the world would win. The score will be 3-1 for Spain.
27/06/2009 at 22:19Tatah01 (USA)
Whoever wrote this comments should get thier facts straight "Spain have played african opposition four times so far this century " and they have won every match? Do you remember 1998 WC in France ? Nigeria beat Spain 2-1 . Remember Sunday Olisa's goal ?I hope u check your facts next time before spewing this half truth
27/06/2009 at 20:33shaun. (England)
Spain may put out their second string side, but they will win 2-0 [or maybe 1-0], i think.
27/06/2009 at 20:32eljavo (Puerto Rico)
the psanish players are demoralized for losing to usa, but i think that it wont do enough, they still have a good record, 15-1 is amazing and i think they will want to break it again soon
27/06/2009 at 20:17Spaniard7Col (USA)
??? Why would spain lose? I think they would WANT to start a new record by winning, why would they back track themselves and lose to SA?! Seriously. we're number 1 rank in the world and we going to show it tomorrow. 3-0 spain. LA FURIA ROJA!
27/06/2009 at 19:36emocija (Lithuania)
I think that the game will end in draws.
27/06/2009 at 19:35dkafambe (Uganda)
Esp is demoralised after failing to reach the finals. On the other hand, Bafana Bafana is flying high. RSA is determined and ready to fight again. I expect a very interesting game though Spain shall win it at the end.
27/06/2009 at 19:24Ylareum (USA)
This would be a great win for RSA and they are encouraged by their close game with Brasil. Spains loss to USA may have damaged their fighting spirit. Or they could be eager to prove themselves. I'm leaning towards Spain on this one. Either way. . .expect a healthy dose of vuvuzelas. . .
27/06/2009 at 17:39Tifrere (USA)
Spain will lose the game since the players believe that they should be in final. Their mentality of concentration is down. RSA will be home and will take the advantage of this fact. The match will end with more than 2 goals.

USA VS BRAZIL

USA 2 VS 3 BRAZIL

Brazil is the best of the world! this victory was only a test for the world cup! WE WILL BE CHAMPIONS
29/06/2009 at 00:40USArise (USA)
Brazil fans, don't get too cocky and americans don't get too down, we only know this game for 15 years now. 20 years from now will be a different story. every world power comes to an end, so will brazil. the US has to be patient with this slow ascend to the top. we are almost there.
29/06/2009 at 00:38llz1992 (USA)
what is with the hate coming from canada? did the US step on some toes the last time they slapped u around?...anyway great heart and skill from both teams!!
29/06/2009 at 00:36rafadp2 (Brazil)
i love brazil,brazil is force
29/06/2009 at 00:36rafadp2 (Brazil)
Brazil is brazil, leader
29/06/2009 at 00:13Jammer (USA)
Congratulations Brazil! You deserved to win. I'm proud of how the USA did this year. Also I agree with fleshkilla99 100%. What do you say when your team is doing so much better than expected, but you see he makes obvious mistakes too? I wish the USA had won, it probably would have made the front page of the sports section in my city's newspaper. The last two victories were on page4 and page 2. Even beating the #1 team in the world will not get the front page, instead the cover stories were college baseball finals, nba draft predictions, offseason football trades and MLB :( Maybe it's good to save some luck for next year. Congrats Brazil and you get to go home to such beautiful women too.
29/06/2009 at 00:06pietrofox (Brazil)
Brazil was superior to USA all the time. But two isolated plays gave the americans two gols on the first half. But the five times world champions confirmed their superiority and made three amazing goals on the second part becoming the first three times champions team of this tourment! Congratulations Dunga, Luis Fabiano, Kaká, Lúcio and Júlio César. You were fantastic!!
28/06/2009 at 23:59samsun92 (USA)
I love the US team when 2010 comes we'll show the world how fantastic we are!!!
28/06/2009 at 23:47PeteBRFC (Australia)
Well done USA for taking it to Brazil and really showing some class. Early goals are great but at the same time give that much more time for equalisers. I hope the USA have not peaked a year too early and can make a showing like this at the WC (provided your not in Australia's group)!
28/06/2009 at 23:44meNmyhoney (USA)
What a turn around! I kept telling myself, it is not over until is over, and so it was, not over until we turned the match around. By the end, the world is as it is supposed to be, we have won, again! I do give USA a lot of credit for the 1st half, that second gol, what a nice counter attack! Also for an very good performance in the tournament, outqualifying the Italians and beating Spain. CONGRATS TO ALL BRAZILIANS! WE DID IT! AGAIN!
28/06/2009 at 23:43
Danavenger (Brazil)
mpbaker38 The US squad played, basically, on counter-attacks which resulted in a 2-0 fierce advantage. Even so the Brazilian team was playing very well. The US defenders are quite good and did everything within their power to undermine the Brazilian individual talented till they were broken throughout the 2nd half. It was an awesome match!
28/06/2009 at 23:41Unitontime (Brazil)
Brazil will always be the best team in the world, the United States would certainly win this tournament, but only if there are no THE GOLDEN SHIRTS, The United States is always the best in everything they do, but there are things that are unique in the world. Brazil also can present to the world THE GOLDEN SHIRTS. GOD WANTED THAT!
28/06/2009 at 23:40clintrotc (USA)
FootGeniy: I think Brazil can win the 2010 World Cup without any corrections to their central defense. In all honesty, they hadn't conceded a solitary goal in three straight matches coming into this game. They got surprised by a fast and energetic American side that was hungry to score goals in the first half.
28/06/2009 at 23:39BrazUSA (USA)
Brazil won, as a Brazilian I am happy, but I have to recognize that the USA made the Brazilian victory looks even better by a great performance by the Americans. The USA is improving by leaps and bounds and I am excited with the idea of having another soccer superpower from the Americas (besides Brazil and Argentina). No, Brazil did not play badly, the USA just played great and at the end the Brazilian victory was hard and worthwhile.
28/06/2009 at 23:37Ylareum (USA)
Hopeful optimism turned to crushing disappointment in this match. The USA team in the first half was not he same team in the second. It was a well deserved win for Brazil. Hopefully the USA learned a great deal and will come back a little better for the World Cup.
28/06/2009 at 23:36clintrotc (USA)
Fleshkilla99: I agree with your assertion that Sacha Klejstan should be dropped from the roster for a time. Although, it could have just been a bad tournament for him. He had the red card in group play and I don't think he even saw any playing time up until this game. He's a young player and should be given some more time to develop. With that being said, it was a poor decision by Bob Bradley to put him in for this final when we needed to produce goals. If he's going to put a goal scorer in that is young, he should have opted for Freddy Adu. Not to open a proverbial can of worms regarding Adu, but I still think he needs to be starting in these type of games.
mpbaker38 (USA)
I didn't get to see the first half, but the US didn't look too good in the second. From what I hear they were playing beautifully in the 1st. Is that true?
28/06/2009 at 23:34FootGeniy (Russia)
Yeah yeah yeah!!! central defence mistakes corrected and Brazil is the 6 time world cup winner! what do you think?
28/06/2009 at 23:34Danavenger (Brazil)
The confederations cup this year has been full of surprises. The North American team is quite skillful, no doubt about that, and their game should ascend in the years ahead. As someone said before, those players are relatively young and could increase the quality of their game as a team becoming, as a consequence, a big headache in the years to come. On the other hand, Brazil is a machine. Brazilian players with great talent spring up every year and the level of this current team has gained them both respect and important titles. I believe next year, during the World Cup, Brazil will be playing their best again. Go get them, BRAZIL!
28/06/2009 at 23:31Fleshkilla99 (Jamaica)
so much usa hate! lol esp from america jr. (canada). Anyway, there should have been subs by the US after brasil made their subs or even before. The coach left the tired player out there too long and brasil stormed back. Sasha is a horrible player and should not be on the USMNT.
28/06/2009 at 23:30pentacampeao (Germany)
but im not happy with robinho´s performance.. he can do alot better than that, usually nilmar is playing alot better and should have a chance as well as graffiti

Brazil is Brazil & end of story!
28/06/2009 at 23:28clintrotc (USA)
carloseaf: I have a friend that I play football with and he is from Brazil. He is so talented! I must say that the Brazilian style (Samba) is so great to watch. I definately think that Brazil has to be the favorites going into the 2010 competition in my opinion at least. USAsoccer91: I'm wondering the exact same thing my friend! To answer your question, Canada has only qualified for ONE World Cup in their history (1986). I don't believe they have any continental titles to speak of either. The members on here that are from Canda that are ditching the U.S. are probably not Canadian. If they are then they have no room to talk.
28/06/2009 at 23:26Green76 (USA)
I was born and raised in the US and I love soceer. The US national team is my favorite team in any sport. My two sons play and so does my daughter. It is the most popular sport in my city. We want the 2018 World Cup in the USA and we want to go for our 2nd world cup then.
28/06/2009 at 23:26Danavenger (Brazil)
Brazil, once more, at the very top. When when it comes down to football, nobody stands a chance. And they try, and they try, and they try... but they can`t get no Satisfaction.
28/06/2009 at 23:21BigBoss1964 (USA)
If El Salvador can do what USA did on in finals with Brazil, then El Salvador will stand a chance against other teams as well.
28/06/2009 at 23:20
carloseaf (Brazil)
umb_soprano, a weak brazilian team and, champion again !!! For next year, when the cup get started, the 0,1% chance becomes something about 100%. Don´t be so jealousy, Brazil is Brazil !!!!
28/06/2009 at 23:20braxtonrob (USA)
Kasatik...you obviously never saw Tab Ramos play on a consistent basis. The ONLY reason not to mention Ramos with History's greats is because he didn't have the surrounding pieces to take a USA team deep into a WC tournament. Otherwise, he would be a household name.
28/06/2009 at 23:20USAsoccer91 (USA)
Why are so many Canadians ditching the US? What has Canada ever done?
28/06/2009 at 23:20pentacampeao (Germany)
To the US fans,CONGRATS,great first half,BRAVE game.and of course, congrats to my brazil, specially kaka and luis fabiano, they took the responsability to themselves today and thats what great players are suppose to do.
28/06/2009 at 23:18suazo_2010 (USA)
Great job USA!!! Yes you might have choked bad after being up 2-0, but you proved that you are ready for the world class teams. It was your first ever final and you played a wonderful match. And great job on the win Brazil! But still, imagine the world if USA would have won... I might have cried even more...
28/06/2009 at 23:17braxtonrob (USA)
Brazil should not be #1 yet; Spain should still be #1 come July 1st, IMO. USA should go from #14 to at least #11, and South Africa should move up. If the world doesn't expect the USA to improve on their form by next year, they are in for a shocker! You watch; any USA fan (that watches ALL the matches we play) knows what I'm talking about!
28/06/2009 at 23:17clintrotc (USA)
kasatik: good point, and I wish I could see the stat sheet for the first half only as well. I'm not saying that the U.S. utterly dominated the first half and had their way with Brazil but neither did Brazil just pummel the U.S. either. In my humble opinion I would at least declare it a wash. I think it was fairly level in the first half between both teams. The United States was very energetic and made the Brazilians pay by their complacency. I don't think Brazil really challenged the U.S. until the latter stages of the first half.
28/06/2009 at 23:11Gabrieli23 (Brazil)
Pravo13, I can't even imagine how soccer can be a secondary sport in a country. Do you think USA is (or was) not a great team because americans are not soccer fans OR americans are not soccer fans because USA is not a great team? I must confess my heart was beating fast in the first half of the match. I couldn't believe my eyes. You played so intelligently, in a strategic way, that I thought the game was over for us.
28/06/2009 at 23:11Kasatik (USA)
Clintrotc: funny you say that. Back, I think in 1998 (WC France) ABC ran a special about the team in which they put Tab Ramos in the same sentence with Pele, Bekkenbauer and Kruyff. That's disrespectful to the history of the game and frankly annoying. It does seem like many people around the world let politics get in the way of the game when it comes to the US team.
